feelin' the love

It's February 2nd! That means only 12 more days until Valentines day. We were at Lowe's the other night and I stocked up on paint swatches in shades of red and pink knowing that I'd need to decorate something for the holiday this month. I used the same method as my Halloween paint swatch garland (you can find my tutorial here). The only difference this time is that I glued my paint swatches together first (right sides out) and instead of using a 2" hole punch, I freehand cut hearts. The hearts are by no means exactly the same but they look cute hanging from the mantle nonetheless. It was so fast and easy that it got me wanting to start on another Valentines day project. I'll share that one next week!

halloween garland tutorial

I know Saturday is the 1st day of October but I couldn't wait to start sharing some Halloween goodness! I want to share with you an easy and fun tutorial for a little decoration to get you in the spirit of this months holiday, Halloween! I'm not reinventing the wheel here, so i'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves on this tutorial. This would also be fun in festive Fall colors if you don't celebrate Halloween or with different shaped punches.

Happy (almost) October!

{Skeleton Garland}

Oh, Halloween is fast approaching and I am well under way making things to spook stuff up a little. This skeleton garland is adapted from this invitation project and I must say I like it better this way. This small army of dancing bones hanging from a bookshelf or doorway will most certainly add charm to your days leading up to October 31st.

The printout is glued to black card stock then cut out with detailed precision. Small brads affix the arms and legs to the body, but allow for movement of the skeletons. I finished by threading them through some brown and white spun bakers twine. You can make as many as you see fit for your garland.
